Why as a business you should consider your employees mental health

We look at how you can support your employees mental health at work

There’s no doubt that the past two years have been tough, with the pandemic affecting us all as individuals, but according to new research, 68% of employers saw staff wellbeing decline during the pandemic.

It’s true, that everyone’s mental wellbeing goes through periods of change throughout a persons lifetime.

One in four people have mental health struggles at any one time, which means someone you know will be suffering, and that person could be in your workplace.

How to handle your employees mental health

You may ask yourself if you would know how to handle a mental health crisis within your place of work. Would you know what to do if a member of staff came to you with a mental health issue, or would you be able to recognize it in a struggling member of staff?

At BN SHE Consultancy, we are proud to offer a half day, one day and two-day Mental Health First Aid course. These courses help de-stigmatize mental health conditions, create a positive and supportive culture within your organization, and give you the confidence to help your colleagues and employees should you find yourself face-to-face with a mental health issue.

Mental health training courses

Our training courses have been proven to lower absenteeism and staff turnover, as well as increase productivity and employee wellbeing.

Investing in employee wellbeing can increase resilience, employee engagement and performance, as well as significantly lowering absence and staff turnover. However, its important to offer a supportive culture throughout an organization, including leadership and people management, and our courses will support you with that aim.

Our highly recommended Mental Health First Aid Courses will run throughout 2022 and offer Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and a mental health skills and awareness programme.

What will be learnt on our mental health course?

We empower people to notice the signs of poor mental health and encourage them to break down barriers and to listen in a non-judgmental way. We are proud to show you how to seek help and to ensure your colleagues and employees make their way to recovery.

The courses cover some, or all, of the following:

  • An in-depth understanding of mental health and the factors that can affect wellbeing
  • Practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues
  • Confidence to step in, reassure and support a person in distress
  • Enhanced interpersonal skills such as non-judgmental listening
  • Knowledge to help someone recover their health by guiding them to seek further support – whether that’s through self-help, their employer, the NHS, or a combination of them all
